Chess For Development

LEARNING IN A SAFE AND
ASPIRING ENVIRONMENT

Our mission

Our goal is to use chess as a tool for empowerment and development, helping refugees and other vulnerable migrants to reach their full potential. Many of the individuals we support have endured appalling cruelties and, as a consequence, have often been detained in their personal development, an inalienable human right.

Why Chess?

Did you know that systematic training of chess has been shown to significantly increase the IQ and cognitive functioning among children and young adults? Chess is much more than just a fun game; it is considered to be both a sport and an art, and an extremely powerful educational tool with the potential to enhance a person's "mental muscle". As such, chess can become magical and make a rapid impact in the lives of young people, providing them with creativity, strategic thinking, and new learning opportunities.

Women empowerment

Known as the game of war and kings, chess is a male-dominated community. However, chess is in fact predominated by queens and our focus is, therefore, on encouraging girls to start playing chess and become new role models.

We hosted workshops and training sessions in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Since January 2020, we have provided training to 200 children and young adults from 15 countries.
